Just a month to go, for a new year, and you may planning for the
journey in the new year’s eve?
Why not to visit Himeji and experience the New Year day in solemn frame
in castle, or shrine. 🙂
In Himeji, there are Shosha Engyoji temple and ropeway is on operation
all night long!
On 31st DEC from 23:50, you can even tolling the temple bell (jyoya-no kane) ceremony.
Jyo-ya-no-kane, according to the buddist beliefs, it is customary to ring the bell 108 times as this number corresponds to the number of evil desires that we suffer from on earth.
Ringing the bell 108 times rids us of our evil passions, and purifies us for the upcoming year.
As for Himeji castle, it is free admission on 1st Jan !
