Newly Opened cafe “小倉屋(

The other day I visited a newly opened cafe called “小倉屋（kimuraya).
This café is a renovated old private house.

What makes this restaurant unique is not its delicious food or sweets. What makes this cafe great is the owner.

Mr. and Mrs. Shiomoto are active in the preservation of machiya townhouses in Himeji, and this property is a renovated machiya that is over 200 years old.
The owner is a activist in the revitalization of old machiya house, and an evangelist for the beauty of Japanese houses.

The owner’s goal is to convey the beauty of machiya houses and to let customers enjoy the space.

The renovation is filled with the loves of Mr. and Mrs. Shiomoto and others like Carpenters, plasterers, gardeners,,,etc

From the wide-open porch, you can see a magnificent pine tree in the spacious garden.
It is great to have coffee while enjoying such a view.
